My Approach

What Drives Me

When you’re living in misery and your life feels like it’s constantly on fire, life can feel unbearable. Hope can be lost. A life that’s worth getting out of bed for can seem pointless. My mission is to be a lighthouse for my clients. To shine a light to help people navigate their way, out of their misery. To hold hope for clients until they can hold it for themselves. Pain in life is inevitable, suffering though is optional. My vision is to help people to let go of their suffering. If you can develop the skills to do this, you can build a life that has meaning and just maybe create a life with joy and fulfilment in it.  If I can do it, so can you.

About ME

For as long as I can remember, I have always had an interest in understanding how and why people do the things they do.  I spent many years working this out for myself! I have also had a strong passion to support others through their troubles. To support people to suffer less and to build lives that are worth living.

My mission led me to commence my training as a Psychologist in 2011. I completed a Bachelor of Psychological Science with Honours and then went on to complete a Post Graduate Diploma in Professional Psychology. I am an APHRA registered Psychologist. I have worked primarily in the public mental health service and NGO sector with adults and adolescents, specialising in providing evidence-based intervention to consumers with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), in the community. I completed my first 3-day DBT training in 2014. I then completed my DBT intensive therapist training with Behaviour Tech, Dr Marsha Linehan’s training school in 2017. I have also trained in the advanced DBT exposure protocol (DBT-PE) to co-treat Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in people living with BPD.

I have facilitated comprehensive Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT groups and provided individual DBT therapy since 2013, to adults. I have also provided several abridged DBT programs to adults (i.e., 10-week standalone skills group) and young people and their families (i.e., abridged adolescent and family program).

I have a special interest in treating clients presenting with complex trauma and eating disorders. I have trained in several evidence-based therapies to cater to these conditions.  I am a Credentialed Eating Disorder Clinician. I offer the following:

  • DBT

  • Trauma focused CBT

  • DBT-PE

  • Schema Therapy

  • CBT-E

  • SSCM

  • FBT

More recently, I have worked as a workforce development officer – assisting staff cross public mental health services and non-government organisations to work better with people who have borderline personality disorder.

I am also a certified trainer of the National BPD Core Competency training strategy.

How am I Different?

While I am a registered and highly trained Psychologist, I am also a person who has a lived experience of mental health. I have sat in both the therapist chair and the client chair. This experience allows me to connect with, understand and relate to my clients on a deeper level. I also ensure that my practice is trauma-informed so as not to cause further harm or leave clients feeling re-traumatised. I understand that working with Psychologist’s can be hard, confronting and frankly terrifying. However, I also know, firsthand, how you can change your life when you can connect with the right professional.
